VARIABILITY, CHARACTER ASSOCIATION AND DIVERSITY ANALYSIS OF RIDGE GOURD (luffa acutangula Roxb.) GENOTYPES OF BANGLADESH

چکیده
Sixty genotypes of ridge gourd (Luffa acutangula Roxb.) were collected from different locations of Bangladesh and were used to study their variability, character association and genetic diversity. Seventeen traits studied, of these, eight showed high heritability (over 80%). Correlation coefficient study indicated that yield per plant had highly significant positive relationship with the number of fruits per plant (r = 0.874**), average fruit weight (r = 0.707**), vine length at harvest (r = 0.359**) and length of fruit (r = 0.334**). On the other hand, the sex ratio and circumference of fruit exhibited negative association with yield. Path co-efficient analysis showed that number of fruits per plant exhibited the highest positive direct effect (0.7192) on yield followed by average fruit weight (0.4656). Based on Mahalanobis’ D statistics, the sixty genotypes were grouped into four different clusters. Clustering pattern revealed that genotypes collected from the same location were grouped into different clusters. The average intercluster distances were always higher than the average intracluster distances suggesting wider genetic diversity among the genotypes within the cluster. Custer-III had the highest intracluster distance (97.9).

Selection of Superior Lentil (Lens esculenta M.) Genotypes by Assessing Character Association and Genetic Diversity
Lentil is one of the most important pulse crops in the world as well as in Bangladesh. It is now considered a main component for training and body building practising in first world countries. Yield varies tremendously from year to year and location to location. Therefore, it is very important to find genotypes that perform consistently well even in ecological farming systems without any interc...

Dietary factors are believed to modulate arsenic toxicity, potentially influencing risk of arsenical skin lesions. The authors evaluated associations among dietary patterns, arsenic exposure, and skin lesion risk using baseline food frequency questionnaire data collected in the Health Effects of Arsenic Longitudinal Study (HEALS) in Araihazar, Bangladesh (2000–2009). They identified dietary pat...

The present research aims to study the association and allelic diversity of linked microsatellite markers to grain quality QTLs of 84 exotic rice genotypes. To this end, 9 microsatellite markers (RM540, RM539, RM587, RM527, RM216, RM467, RM3188, RM246, RM5461) were used in which a total of 61 alleles were identified with a mean of 6 alleles per locus. The polymorphism information content (PIC) ...

Castor (Ricinus communis L.) is one of the most ancient medicinal oil crops in the world. It has been vastly distributed in different parts of Iran. In the present study, the inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers were used to evaluate the molecular genetic diversity among and within 12 castor accessions collected from 7 regions of Iran. Totally, 16 ISSR primers amplified 166 loci...
متن کاملMorphological Characterization and Assessment of Genetic Variability, Character Association, and Divergence in Soybean Mutants
Genetic diversity is important for crop improvement. An experiment was conducted during 2011 to study genetic variability, character association, and genetic diversity among 27 soybean mutants and four mother genotypes. Analysis of variance revealed significant differences among the mutants and mothers for nine morphological traits. Eighteen mutants performed superiorly to their mothers in resp...
